If apply for Reading now will get terrible shifts?

So it says there are 52 staff and volunteer places remaining, and 527 places allocated. I've read that volunteers select shifts on a \"first come first serve basis\" so does that mean I'll end up working 3 night shifts?
I really want to have the Sunday evening off to see the Foo Fighters, but that will obviously be the popular main event so do you think it's highly unlikely I'd manage to get time off then?

Shifts are evenly spaced to make it fair on all, so even if you are last to apply you will still get to enjoy a large proportion of the festival - at Reading & Leeds we aim to ensure that all volunteers receive at least two event evenings off.

Zoe
depends on how lucky you are feeling!
I applied late for Latitude, we had an option of 13 shift patterns and put them in our order of preference.
It depends on your shift preferences and the popularity of them as to whether you get your preferred shifts.

Unfortunately I was on shift for my fave act who were headlining on Sunday evening, sadly no shift swaps. I then saw it as a bonus - I would see two headline acts I have not seen during my free time. The act I was on shift for I had seen before and I heard him from where I was stationed and the shifts were a great pattern to work for me, so it all worked out well for me.

Good luck if you decide to go for it.
