When Will We Start To Get Information?

In the past the information pack has generally been sent about a week before the event.
oh dear, I hope my information pack arrives before I leave home for the conerence. If I don't have it will I be allowed in????
We also upload them to PAAM as PDF docs so you can be green and read online, or be semi-green and print on recycled paper using environmentally friendly ink!
thanks, but same question differently. Will they be on PAAM before I leave for the conference!!!!!!!!!
When do you leave?
bright and early on Monday 13 July.
Steph and I (possibly Jo & Tavis too) will be at Latitude by then so I very much hope you'll have received your info pack via the post by the 13th.
If you haven't it should have been available for download/print via PAAM for at least a week by the 13th July.
Talking the info packs (for all those reading this) - we're planning to pretty them up this year - make them read less like a white-paper. So adding photos, graphics, diagrams, printing as a booklet rather than stapled A4 pages. Any other ideas re how to improve the pack?
Do you find it useful?
Does it not cover an area you'd like it to? (we don't put the line-up in them as line-ups can change right up until the last minute).
Have you ever read it?!
I'm from Australia and I am coming overseas to travel and I'm a CAT at Latitude for the first time.
How do I receive my information pack? Can I get it when I get to the festival site for the first meeting?
I will be travelling around from middle of June and will only be staying in hostels so post is not an option. Can it be waiting for me at the first meeting or send via e-mail??
The CAT information pack will also be uploaded to PAAM, so you'll be able to read it online and we'll also have a few spare for those that are unable to print it before the event.

A map of the whole site would be useful: showing facilities, campsites, toilets, bars etc..
Shift Pattern Plan/Times..
In this current economic climate, would it not be best to eMail the info pack or at least an Email to advise staff that it is available on-line to download, rather than you preparing/producing a nice brochure type booklet at considerable cost, and the postage to addressees, which.. is already highlighting that some people will not be in a position to accept/receive postal copies. Therefore, those said copies being a waste.
My experience last year was that the info was available on-line for me to download and print, much sooner than when my hard copy arrived (which was only a day or two beforehand and not a week) so I had already downloaded and printed thinking that time was too tight for me to wait until hard copy was received. Therefore, I printed one and then received a printed one...that's two copies...i.e wastage.
There are also hubby and wife, boyfriend and girlfriend, brother and sister or even partner and partner teams going, therefore you'll be potentially sending out two copies to the same address... when only one would suffice.
Maybe, every staff member that has accepted their position, should download and print their own.
a) No expensive printing / binding / production costs for you.
b) No duplicate printing if timing is tight.
c) No mailing/postage costs.
d) No produced copies being sent out that will not be received.
e) No excuse for staff to have not received or had time to review.
Maybe you could print off a few (large size/laminated) for 'just in case' and they are available at log-in/registration \"for reference only - not to be removed from site office\" and maybe one or two in each 'campsite office', again.. \"for reference only....\".
In my opinion, whilst it was of some use, maybe only a little... the information in there was read out word for word at the briefing meeting, therefore, didn't make sense to me that all staff had to read, re-read and digest the information before arrival at the site and \"you will not have time to make yourself familiar with its contents once you have arrived on-site and registered\" proved incorrect, especially as there was a 'Q / A section' within the briefing talk.
I say, save the costs, don't produce a printed booklet, produce only a few A4 or A3 size that are stuck to the wall in office, or even on the fence/gate at the entrances to staff site; use the money that would have been spent for such production to improve the conditions for staff, maybe give them all a meal/beer voucher or two...
A highly produced booklet would in my opinion be a waste of money, how many people would actually keep theirs after the event...? More likely to be used as campfire fuel than recycled.
Re the map - you should have been given one onsite? We don't send out pre-event and never plan to...
We do send emails advising when the info packs are downloadable.
I've thought about just offering the pack as the download rather than posting and offering as a download. My thinking is many wouldn't print. The pack being posted means even if people don't read pre-travelling; when bored in a car, train, bus, or waiting for any of those, or once on-site - all have an info pack to read.
Latitude epically is all about knowing the answers. The CATs helped reduce written customer complaints about staff not knowing what they were talking about from 72 in 2007 to 1 in 2008.
If we only offered as a download this would actually give people more of an excuse for not having read the pack e.g. \"my printer wouldn't work\", \"I ran out of paper\", \"the CAT stole the ink cartridges\"...
I do agree re the wastage.
Anyone else have any thoughts re this?

I think the best way of having the pack would be to have an online one to read and print off if they want (everyone has internet or they wouldn't be able to apply [;)] ) and then some laminated printed copies in the office and the campsite caravans as reference.
My hard copy got wet and fell apart anyway.
Plus we had to stand around for about an hour listening (well trying to listen) to someone reading the whole thing out again at the briefing so what was the point in reading the thing in the first place! I had read the pack so it was pretty pointless being at the briefing.
i agree with above!!

the post above me!!
But all of the posts are above yours....
i meant the one imediatly above mine
Perhaps an option in PAAM, question along the lines of - would you like a printed pack in the post or are you happy to read and/or print the online version then reference office copies onsite?
Although as Rob has said many don't keep up with what is said online.
Re wastage -
We use www.evolve-papers.com for both paper and envelopes.
There are of course other costs (environmental and financial) involved e.g. power, ink, time.
More info is available via our Green Section
I think it is different for new CATs from returning ones.
Before my first event (Leeds 06), receiving the pack not only gave me some idea of what would be expected, but was tangible evidence that I had sent £150 for a real event not a sophisticated online scam! As a returning CAT, the only thing I do before the official briefing is walk the site so I know what is where.
Since PAAM shows \"you are in group returning cats\", it shouldn't be too difficult to use that as a sorter to automatically send the information to new CATs (only)?

I totally agree. Having everything online would leave me feeling a bit aprehensive about how authentic it all is if it was my first time. Although I guess the advertising on the official festival pages is reassuring for newcomers.
