I have been keeping a close eye on the arrival times and now that it has been changed to Tuesday 19th for Reading, I wondered how this affects the allocation of shifts. Bit concerned as arranged to leave children at my parents house to get there by 8am on Wednesday. If people arrive on Tuesday, do they get to sign in then and get their shifts first too? Please let me know so I can try to change my plans if need be!!!

Signing in for Reading CATs/HATs will commence on Tuesday afternoon, although please ensure that you do NOT arrive before 12:00 (noon).
Kind regards,
Tavis
Thanks now I can try to rearrange stuff. Looking forward to it!
do i have to be there earlier?
How early in the afternoon will signing in be?
Will we need to arrive dead on 12 to be on time for signing on or do we have some time?
The signing in will start once the CAT Management Team are ready - There are several tasks that we will need to fulfil before commencing with signing in. For those trying to arrive early enough so as not to work an event evening there will be almost 100 places each for the Wednesday evening/Thursday late shifts, so hopefully these shifts should take some time to fill up. It can take up to five minutes to sign everyone in - Please remember to have your photographic ID ready.
Kind regards,
Tavis
Can we actually choose the shifts then? say weds, thurs and monday? or are they already done and we pick one we prefer?
They are already preallocated into teams (to avoid double shifts and to allow enough time off between shifts, particuarly after a night shift) and you will pick the team you wish to work on, subject to there still being spaces.
Kind regards,
Tavis
So, to avoid any confusion (for me anyway...) is it right to now assume that instead of arriving Wednesday morning for a 1.00pm briefing, that you now actually need to arrive Tuesday (not before 12.00pm) in order to make a briefing that afternoon/evening?
And, if my maths serves me correctly... camping will therefore be Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday night. . i.e 6 nights...
And over that period, three x eight hour shifts must be fulfilled...
This of course is to have the better choice of shift allocations..and camping pitch...?
But of course, it maybe that you cannot get there until the Wednesday so would therefore have a lesser choice of shifts, and of course a reduced choice of camping pitch..?

CATs should arrive between noon on Tuesday, 19 August and 21:00 (at the very latest) on Wednesday, 20 August. Briefing times will depend on which team you are working on - please check when your scheduled briefing is when you resgister on-site.
CATs work at the festival between 14:00 on Wednesday and 16:00 on Monday. Your 3 x 8-hour shifts will be within this period and will be confirmed when signing-in. Shifts are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, so of course arriving early will mean you should get the most desirable shift pattern, however all CATs are provided with at least two event evenings off to enjoy the music, so even if you are the last CAT to arrive you will still get to enjoy a fair amount of the festival.
Kind regards,
Tavis
Thanks Tavis... Crystal Clear....

Sorry, I know that you've prob answered this but what is the latest time to arrive (ideally) for Tues sign in? Obviously before dark else tent pitching will be most difficult but is there a time you'd prefer?
Thanks, Gem
The CAT Office will be closed from around midnight on Tuesday until 08:00 on Wednesday morning.
Kind regards,
Tavis
Im gonna come up on tuesday night after work.... leave home about 6.30..... If we get there after the office closes can we still camp and register in the morning?
I cant imagine ill get there after 12 as i only live in gatwick, but u never know.
Sorry for the questions i bet your sick to death of them :)
Yes, but make sure you're camping in the right place otherwise you may have to move your tent in the morning!
The earlier you get there the better chance you have, but only about 95 out of 468 CATs will need to work Friday evening, so you should still have a good chance early Wednesday.
Kind regards,
Tavis
Do we really have to sign in an hour before our shifts like it says in the CAT pack? So if we have a midnight shift we'll have to miss some of a headliner since they finish at 11.30?
Yes. I'm afraid so.
Cool, just wanted to make sure :)
hey..can i double double check that we didn't have to buy a car parking ticket if we are coming by car :)
cheers
