Hello! I, alongside two friends, were confirmed positions for Reading. We're three people, one was confirmed ages ago, and we decided to join her when they opened 50 places more a couple of days ago.
· My main concern (as you could call) is if we will have similar shifts. I know they try to put friends in the same time-shifts (in separate groups) but, they also give the shifts depending on when you paid first and, as one of us paid months before the others two, I don't know if they'll put us together, and if there's by any chance that we are so so unlucky to get awful shifts?
· One other thing....traveling from London. My friends will be already living there, but I'll be flying in, so depending on the day that I arrive and everything, all of us might go from London. Anybody going alone that could drive 3 people? It's cheaper, it's more comfortable than trains and it's cool to meet people even before the event, ha!
· About the camping & food & drink; I've read we're going to a crew camping, which will be separate from all the madness (thank god!) and I know that we don't get free food/drink, but I was wondering if, while on shifts, we get water (asking just to know if we should buy small bottles!).
· And the last one...when we will be able to choose which shifts we prefer? I'm really excited![:D]

hi im not driving but I might be travelling from London too :)what part are you travel from??
Hi! You may have problems getting the shifts together that you want if you choose a popular one however if you go for one where it's not so appealing you might get lucky. But if not you'll still have a great time and meet lots of new people and still catch up with your friends on your down time
I have a very small car so wouldn't be able to offer lifts for 3 extra sorry.
As you'll be working in campsites there will be drinking water stations around the sites so as long as you have a bottle you can fill up whenever you want. Another tip is to offer to help the burger vans. Maybe getting water for them or something might get you a freebie of discount ð??

I actually have no idea, I haven't asked where they will be living, ha! Ops. [:I]
And I still don't know if I'll go straight from the airport (which I don't think it'll be a smart idea since I won't go to Heathrow because I'll book a cheap flight and they don't usually go there), but I'll ask them now and I'll let you know!

Wow, thanks a lot! I assumed the \"nicest\" shifts would be extremely demanded so, I'll think possitive (if I wasn't volunteering I wouldn't be even attending to the festival so,..) and enjoy the experience as much as I can!
Also, would you recommend taking wellies or mountain boots? I'm more keen on mountain boots because I don't think my feet would be very happy after +8h inside wellies, but they aren't as waterproof, haha!
I agree your feet will hate you after 3 shifts in wellies, just find the most comfortable pair of shoes you can find there will be lots of walking!!

I was asking myself the same question. I don't dare to go there with just sneakersâ?¦ But mountain boots are heavyâ?¦and wellies are a little uncomfortable after a whileâ?¦ -..- I think I'll take an old pair of sneakers and wellies, just in case there's a flood xD
What shifts have you all requested?
