i'm planning on arriving at leeds on the tuesday.
i was wondering if there would be anywhere to buy food on the tuesday, i.e. are the vendors/stalls or even better staff canteen open from tuesday? as im not planning on bringing any food or doing any cooking!
also will there be a water point on staff camping?

Hi Wabo,
There will be water points available. Last year we had a tap in each campsite but I don't know about this year, failing that there will be plenty of water points near the toilet and shower area. The boneyard at Leeds isn't very big so you won't have far to go. I would anticipate that the canteen will be open too as there will already be quite a few members of site staff around. I would advise maybe bringing something to eat with you just in case I'm wrong though lol.
I think I remember the crew cafe been open as there will already be lots of other staff on site, riggers etc. Also I hope we get a bigger area in the boneyard this year, last year was terrible, 07 was hugeeeeee compared to the space last year!
I think we are being moved over to the field next to Oxfam's campsite cause there is so many of us now!! Last year's spit of land was a bit of a joke really. Considering we ended up with a third of the DC staff in there with us too!
ok thanks dudes
I bloody hope so Amy, I know DC took up more of the campsite then CAT!!!! The one next to Oxfam was the one from 07 wasn't it?
The CAT compound is still likely to be in the Boneyard - rather than over the road.
Ah ok sorry Mark. Can we have our nice 2007 campsite back then please. I liked that one :-)
Yeah please Mark can we have the 2007 one back :) That one was good!
i liked the 07 one.
no trudging through muddy fence corridors to get to the loos!
The specific position of the CAT compound and layout of the Boneland isn't something I deal with. I've advised re number of CATs and so on but the final decision is made by the site manager - dependant on numerous factors e.g. other team's requirements, position of all sorts e.g. toilets, showers, cafe etc.
Cross your fingers and hope for a fabulous compound...
I expect things like toilets, showers, cafe etc all being positioned at one end - usually the end closest to an access road as per Latitude - is so it's quick and easy to empty the toilets, trucks to deliver to the cafe and so on. Also, if the cafe was in the middle of the crew compounds if there was a fire or other accident - it would be harder to control and stop from spreading. Noise too - keeps it away from at least some.
I'm just guessing as I've never been involved in placement but makes sense to me.
Yeah you do have a very good point there Mark although I really felt for the DC staff at Latitude cause the trek to the toilets was really really far!
