To all my guys & girls on Shift D at Leeds, thank you so much! I couldn't have asked for any more from you, and I know the Sunday night was a 'mare for some of you, but you came through and did the CATs proud! Listening to the zone managers on the rounds on Monday morning I know how much they appreciated you being there.

Well done as well to the team on Yellow for getting the big story of Leeds festival, and handling it so well. I'll suggest suitable rescue techniques go into the briefing for next year! (Go to Sky News's website if you don't already know the story)

I hope you all enjoyed it, and I hope you'll all be back next year for more of the same!

Al.

Thanks Al
I will also add a special thanks to my team on Green/Brown who got on with the 'ordinary' job while all around was 'excitement'.

No such thing as 'ordinary' CATs Tony! With two sites to look after up there it makes them all pretty special in my books.

Besides, who wants excitement all the time!

Forgot to mention - thanks to the D01/E01 team for their super-early shift, wasn't expecting that one!

Also forgot to say - as it was my first time as shift supervisor, I'd appreciate any feedback you might have, and about how I organised/allocated the teams - reading some of the comments on FB it seems that some of the Reading shifts had friends/groups split up so that teams were mixed up rather than going round together. I can see both sides, but would be interested in your opinions.

Not one to hijack your thread Al, but I'd like to say a big thank you to my team on blue.
I didn't get round everybody before I left as it was a long night for the guys and girls and everybody wanted their beds!

So hope everybody had a greater time as I did and hope to see you guys next year.

I take your point Al but I quoted the word ordinary, which refers to the job to do, not the CATs, because I think it is difficult to do an eight hour shift, particularly a night shift, when things are relatively mundane, ie no adrenaline pumping and no hair raising (or long dropping) stories to tell later.

The team issue is interesting as I can see both sides too, but I came down on the keeping friends together on shift. Justification to follow when I feel more able be coherent.

Sorry Tony, perils of a forum page - it was definitely not a dig at being an ordinary CAT, rather than an action CAT :) Apologies if it came across as such (forgot to apply forum rule 1: Type, read, wait, read again, then post!) :)

Hi Al, I'd like to thank my team on D \"Orange\" - you were awesome. Sunday night was a little daunting but they made it through. xxxxx

While Yellow made the news pages, we also had our own \"poo heroes\" (you know who you are) and I have to say what they did was above and beyond the call of duty i.m.o. So a Special Well Done to You Two!
