I would like to express my disappointment at the shift patterns for Latitude. Many of them require working on the Monday, even though that is till 4pm. I really do not want to work on the Monday, I want to leave by midday. This does not give me (and my lift share) many options. I have every sympathy with rota planners, I always avoid jobs with that element, but for me, this year, the rota barely gives me any choice.
I have two questions :
why Guest/Artists HATS have to stay on Monday. I know those campsite managers like to have HATS they have worked with before, and I enjoy working with them on both those campsites but why Monday.
if those on Pixie shifts also do a campsite shift to make it up to three as they only have two shifts on the plan, or have I missed something?
Sorry but I am very disappointed.

I think the pixies only have to do 2 8.5 hours not 3 shifts. Yes it does suck that all the guest jobs do require you to work on the monday i guess its to help them all get off site, it is only 55 volunteers out of 550 people. All the othe shifts are the same as the last 2 years though
Hi guys, at Latitude we have a lot of positions to cover across the event and try to be as fair as possible when working out the shift patterns, whilst still fulfilling the requirement. This year the pre-allocation of Pixies is new - to accommodate the different Pixie shift times, I have had to increase the hours per shift, hence only 2 Pixie shifts per team. Of the 13 shift patterns, only 5 are required on Monday so if you don't want to work on Monday, make sure you put these as your least preferred shifts. See you in July!
Thats fair enough steph. See you in a month
HI Steph, Thanks for the reply. I know you try to be fair to everyone, thats why I avoid jobs with rota planning in the job description, you can't please everyone. I know I'm not the only person with a 5-6 hour drive ahead of them after working at the festival although I don't suppose that many are my age!! I want a \"good\" sleep on Sunday night plus I want to see a particular headline band - the only reason I'm going, which combines to make my shift choice a bit difficult. See you soon.
Alas it's one of those, \"Can't please all of the people, all of the time\" situations. I can sympathise though Marilyn. I've got a 5 hour drive home off the back of a full week of night shifts! Still, being about to see all you lovely people, Elbow and The Mod Father will all be worth it :-D
a big thank you to the rota planning team at Hotbox who have given me my first choice shift, love you loads, see you soon
Looking forward to seeing you Marilyn :-)
Thats good to hear then marilyn, see you in 3 weeks
