how are y'all?
This is my first time as a CAT at a Festival. Actually this is my first time at a festival - I have only been to concerts before....
Anyway, I am flying from Ireland on my own. How do I get to the Leeds Festival from Leeds Airport?
And I would be very grateful for any other advice you can give to a newbie who has not been in a tent since she was around 9 years old.....

Hey there,
I'm coming over from Ireland as well, but I'm taking the bus and arriving in Leeds at 8am on the Tuesday or something ridiculous like that. Last time I shared a taxi with a few randomers from this board. The buses won't be running so your best bet is sharing a taxi with other volunteers/workers who know where they are going or get a lift from someone on the board. I myself haven't even thought about it for this year yet.
What day and time are you arriving in Leeds at?

Hey,
I should be arriving at Leeds Airport on Tuesday at 9am. I would prefer to get the afternoon flight, but I have been advised to arrive early on Tuesday to get the work-shift I would prefer, and to put my tent where I want.

Dermo I was one of the randomers! lol! Be good to see you again.
Gerri, you could get the airport link bus to the bus station in Leeds then the local bus to the park, it stops at the bottom of the blue gate where you need to be. I can get you the bus numbers etc if you like.

I wonder how I am getting back to the airport on 30th August, as I have been informed it is a Bank Holiday, so no buses will be running. Maybe I will have to leave via taxi at 6pm. Think I have to be at the airport by 8pm to check-in......

Buses will still be running on the bank holiday, you should make it for that flight pretty easily. If you just grab one of the shuttles back to leeds bus station you will be able to get a bus from there to the airport.

Hi Geraldine
We are not sure of the bus time table to the airport with it being the bank holiday, this is why it was suggested to get a taxi a little earlier to cope with the traffic leaving the festival site.
I will have a look for the time tables for that area for the bank holiday and mail the links over to you some time today.

RestricteD says the bus number from leeds bus station to blue gate (staff entrance) is the 770 and is run by harrogate & district
all the info is on this site if you go to the bus tab, click bus maps and guides and download the pdf for leeds buses. the timetable should also be under the buses tab somewhere
the 770 does run back on the monday but is a lot less frequent and last year we were waiting ages for it because of a massive traffic jam caused by the fairground and production vehicles trying to get out of bluegate and getting stuck!
