I applied to be a CAT, paid the deposit etc and was looking forward to it, but now my family has booked a surprise birthday holiday for me that same weekend. What happens if I try and cancel my CAT place if they can't change the dates of the holiday. Will I recieve my £200 deposit back? Thanks

As long as you give plenty of notice; then you will eventually get your deposit back. If you leave it to the last minute to cancel, then you will lose your deposit.

The best way forward is to persuade your family to suprise you on another weekend, and come and celebrate your birthday with the coolest bunch of strangers that you will ever meet!

If you can't persuade your family to re-arrange your birthday surprise, be sure to notify Hotbox Events as soon as possible, especially if you want/need your deposit back before OCTOBER.

HotBox Events - Terms and Conditions - Deposits

Paying a deposit does not confirm your position at an event; applications are accessed and positions confirmed individually by a member of HOTBOX staff after a deposit has been paid.

Deposits are returned in October via a cheque in the post.

When returning deposits that were paid online HOTBOX deducts 3.4% +20p rounded up to the nearest GBP to cover costs incurred by the online payment process.

Part or all of your deposit may be withheld if you:

Do not complete any shift allocated to you;
Lose any uniform and/or equipment allocated to you;
Miss your on-site briefing;
Do not sign-in on-site by the ESSID; and do not notify us at least 20 calendar days prior to the event specific sign-in date.
Breach the HOTBOX Terms & Conditions;
Breach the HOTBOX Policies & Procedures;
Breach the HOTBOX Code of Conduct;
Breach any HOTBOX Client Rules and Regulations.
Exceptions are made for extenuating circumstances such as illness where a written statement from a doctor can be provided.

If you do not gain a position due to failing a PNC check your deposit will be returned in October.

If you pay a deposit and cancel your position and notify us in writing at least 20 calendar days prior to the ESSID your deposit will be returned in October.

If you pay a deposit and cancel all positions applied for and notify us in writing at least 56 calendar days prior to the ESSID; subject to a £20.00 GBP administration fee you are eligible for an early deposit return; early deposit returns are processed on a monthly basis.

Although we say monthly to be safe as it can take a while in the summer when we're very busy; we do try to send returns ASAP. Usually it's more like within two weeks. If you request an early return plan on it being within four and you'll hopefully be pleasantly surprised.
