M13UGS posted this 29 October 2009

No, but then I guess there'll be delays due to the recent postal strikes.

bags666 posted this 29 October 2009

it will prob be next weekend before we recieve them

MikeMorris posted this 01 November 2009

To all those awaiting deposits; this is my fourth year working with the CATs and can I assure you that your deposits will be returned as soon as they can. They will be late. That is due to the postal strike; but not down to the Hotbox guys.

Just rest assured that you will get your money back; you have had a great festival; and you can have another free festival next year!

Sorry to hear your cheque has a typo, please http://www.hotboxevents.com/contact/\">contact us here including details of the problem and we'll send a replacement.

I don't have the spreadsheet to hand, best you wait for a reply to your email so Tavis/Steph/Jo can double check for you and sort the problem out.

mines come back fine

GavLeeds2008 posted this 07 November 2009

Hi got mine back today but it has somebody elses name on it! I have sent a message to the contact us.

Mark posted this 07 November 2009

Yes there have been a few of these - it's only affected some of those with the same surname as another.

From what we can tell, it seems the bank somehow reordered the spreadsheet before printing the cheques.

We'll be following this up but if you are one of those who has been affected please http://www.hotboxevents.com/contact/\">email us inc details of the cheque you have received (first name, surname & cheque serial number which should start with \"10\" then have four more digits, e.g. 101234.), we'll then cancel and resend.

Please remember - the cheques are sent to the person who paid the deposit, so if this was your parent (as it was for many) the cheque will have been sent in their name, posted to the address we hold for you in PAAM.

Mine arrived this morning, all fine and dandy... thank you..

mine is for a completly different name so about to send an email now.. quick question though, its only for £192.02 are they all like this or did this person do something wrong?!

jayDee_marie posted this 09 November 2009

one of my cheques was for 193.00 .. the other for 200.00 .. i think i remeber sumwhere sayin a fee was taken off depending on how it was paid .. but both of mine where paid the sameway so i dont understand how tht works .. mine last year had abouta fiver off

Mark posted this 09 November 2009

A deposit return for £193.00 means the deposit was paid via PayPal. PayPal charges 3.4% + £0.20 flat fee on each payment. 3.4% of £200.00 + £0.20 = £7.00.

Meal vouchers are also deducted at £3.99 per voucher.

Any larger deductions will be for shifts missed.

There were some radios lost by volunteers this year which Hotbox has been charged for although we decided to not pass on these costs to the volunteers this year.

MikeMorris posted this 11 November 2009

To be fair, all of the comments regarding deposit charges are explained in the CAT faq's and in the general information.

It is a bit harsh to gripe about the £7 charge when you've had a free festival!

Reading and Leeds are the premiere big festivals, and Latitude is becoming the premiere family festival. And we get to go along for free and have a ball! I think a little reality check is required here!

Anyway. I for one will just say thank you very much; had a good time, and look forward to next year!

Mark posted this 11 November 2009

I do understand the moans re the time it takes to get deposits returned though. The postal strikes didn't help at all this year.

For next year Edd has suggested we use a different company to deal with the in-filing. It's annoying that we have the returns info ready by the 10th-12th October but the cheques aren't posted until much later in the month.

We'll look into alternative suppliers for 2010.
