Thought we could start a thread where everyone puts ideas of what food and cooking is good for festivals.
My tip is for those who plan to use a meths burner... if you ad about 10% water to your spirit before burning, it prevents the bottom of your pans from sooting up making washing up loads easier!

I usually bring cereal (and eat it dry) and other kinda easy snacks...I don't tend to eat much at festivals though (beer is very filling...!)
super noodles is what i live off
supernoodles are epic, especially the ones in the pot so i dont have to bother with cans, i can just steal hot water from the cafe.
i also take a fair few bread rolls, crisps, cereal bars and some chocolate bars to keep my sugar up on shift.
no cooking required! lol
I've not understood whether we can get food from the bar for free or we should pay just like everyone. In the CAT \"contract\" it was written that we'll have \"access to bar\" but it was not clearly explained
Oh if someone has a large pot I will make some real, tasty, not overcooked italian \"pasta\" (yes I'm italian)!! If I succeeded to make it in Russia it shouldn't be a problem in the UK, even while swimming in the mud =)
Seriously, what expert CATs bring to eat? I won't take with me any large pot or saucepan or other but if I should buy everything full price at the bar/cafe it will cost a lot... is there anyone who's going to bring camp stove or something similar? if so we can eat togheter and divide food/gas/everythingelse expenses... and I promise the \"pasta\" if someone brings the camp stove!
I took loads of food to latitude but ate in the Orange Staff canteen, spending my deposit as I went along. Brought nearly all the food home. My wood fired Kelly Kettle kept me entertained while making tea.
A big bag of pasta, a couple of jars of sauce, a saucepan and a little camping stove are a good source of food for a few days.
The Northeastern, CAT's don't get meals provided however there is a staff canteen and you can buy meals from them. You tend to find that most people cater for themselves or buy meals from the canteen or festival food stalls although the food stalls can be very expensive.
Disposable BBQs are good too, especially for those of you who are going to Reading and can't use gas stoves. You can still put pans on a BBQ to boil up water but it does take a little longer.
just seen this posted on the leeds forums...anyone ever tried them? lol
There's also this company:
This is not in any way connected to Hotbox Events or Hotbox Studios (unless Mark has gone into festival catering)!
No that isn't anything to do with us - looks like a good idea though!
Invest in a trangia cook set. This comes with a meths burner which will cover most festivals, and a gas convertion set, for the nice festivals!
They are not the cheapest but will last a lifetime.
You can then find a huge range of tinned and freeze dried packs of food which will save you a fortune in the long term. Also, you can brew up a coffee first thing in the morning. On a camp site, that is as close to heaven as you can get!
you could all do what i do, by ready made food
just keep it in a chill bag in your tent
its the best way to live at a festival :D
